Description

The open star cluster Messier 45, also called the "Pleiades" or "the seven sisters", was formed in the Taurus Molecular Cloud at a distance of 430 light years from our solar system. The many young and hot stars in blue illuminate the surrounding dust clouds, which then reflect the light. These special reflection nebulae in close proximity to a star are called the Merope nebula, named after one of the "7 sisters".
