Amateur Radio Astronomy is getting more and more affordable.
Main reason is the development of so called "Software Defined Radio"/ SDR and the
availability of relative inexpensive SDR USB dongles, originally used for receiving local TV.
Typically with such a SDR, frequencies between 10 MHz up to 2 GHz can be tuned.
The bandwidth is up to 2 MHz.
Using also available frequency down-converter the Frequency Band reaches down to 100 KHz.
Radio Astronomy has reserved and restricted frequency bands in the whole frequency spectrum
mentioned above.
Most prominent frequency is 1.42 GHz , the so called "Hydrogen line"
Astrobin , of course, was founded for Amateur Astro Photographer.
Amateur Radio Astronomy typically is not an area for producing "pretty images".
But I guess some of the ASTROBIN members might also be interested in extending their
activities towards a different light-spectrum of the cosmic sky.
AND : Radio Astronomy is independant of weather conditions and daylight !
ASTROBIN is a very professional managed Astronomy site and therefore ideal also to be utilized
as a host for the niche of Amateur Radio Astronomy.
