Description

The Eagle Nebula (M16, IC 4703) surrounds the star cluster NGC 6611. It lis around 5,700 light years away in the constellation of Serpens. The star cluster was discovered by Jean-Philippe de Chéseaux in 1745-46. The nebula was first observed by Charles Messier on 3rd June 1764, which was a Sunday.



The Eagle was photographed between 20 August and 10 September 2020 from a rig in Spain that is privately owned and operated by Barry Wilson and me.
