Description

The Veil was the first main target of my trip to Cherry Springs. As my imaging setup can only image 1 half of the Veil at a time, I had written 2 matching APT imaging scripts before I arrived. The two issues I had were that a few days before I left for the trip, my laptop crashed with APT running and the APT settings file got corrupted deleting about 15 scripts in the process. Not the fault of APT just one of those things. I restored the settings file from my Observatory PC but the imaging scripts were lost. My advise to APT users is to regularly SAVE A BACKUP OF YOUR SETTINGS FILE. The second issue is that although I allowed about 20% overlap, the two halves also were miss matched side to side from each other by about 20%. What I lost will be aparent when I publish the Western Veil by itself which I intend to do in the next week or so.

I was keen to give the L-Extreme filter a try on the Vail as recomended by Trevor Jones. Reasonably happy with the result but I wish I had more data to bring out finer details.

The two halves were easily stitched together using James' workflow. Here is a link to James' totorial which works perfectly and is easy to follow. https://youtu.be/nPyouGuBzqM Thanks James.
