Description

The first object of the Messier catalog, one of the most beautiful (although very small) objects in the sky.

This supernova remnant in the constellation of Taurus formed in 1054 when a giant star went supernova.

The temporarily bright celestial object was visible during the daytime and it was recorded by the Chinese astronomers of the time.

Nowadays, the Crab Nebula is about 11 light year in diameter and it keeps growing.

The images in the visible, like this, show the intricate web of material expelled from the star.

Hydrogen filaments show their typical red (h-alpha) emission and, in an external layer, other heavier elements show different colors.
