Description

This object is a dark nebula located 2000 light years away in the constellation of Aquila at a declination of -1 degrees. The nebula spans 10 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to a width of 6 light years. Like most dark nebula, I could find no interesting information on this object.

Although this is the 139th entry in Barnard's dark nebula catalog, this does not appear to me to be a dark nebula in the same sense as the others I have imaged. This nebula is not deeply dark - it seems more dusty than dark to me, with a distinguishing orange color.

In the bottom left of the image is the planetary nebula NGC 6778.
