Description

I have been an Astrobin member for some time now, always in awe of all the wonderful photos other members produce. This has inspired me to to take the plunge and this is my first post on Astrobin and my second attempt at this, my first deep sky photo. Taken from a Bortle 7/8 zone in Cape Town, South Africa. The ambient light pollution aggravated by a very nearby streetlamp caused gradients in my first attempt that I just could not get rid of. I therefore re-took the images the following night, a few hours earlier with Orion in a different part of the sky. This improved things and a combination of ABE and DBE in PI eventually made things manageable. There is a lot to learn. First for me is learning to calibrate my images. This image is uncalibrated and the lack of darks and flats made things very tricky. Looking forward to the journey...
