Description

On 5 March I was able to take this picture. There are many beautiful objects in this field, especially emission and reflection nebulae.

The showpiece is the Rosette Nebula NGC 2237, easily recognisable by its shape. This emission nebula is about 5000 light years away and is, like all emission nebulae, a birthplace of new stars.

In the upper right part of the image is the Christmas tree cluster NGC 2264, a complex of emission and reflection nebulae, and in the lower right a small, pretty blue reflection nebula IC 447.

All garnished with the numerous stars of the Milky Way.....
