My attempt at pulling IFN around M81 and M82 region using LRGB filters and I was unware of the challenges I will run into and I ended up shooting the RGB data all over again. This was probably my second or third target when I started into AP last year and I had zero clue there was IFN (Integrated Flux Nebula) in this region. So as usual, made the background as dark as I could and went with it. I saw this target soaked in IFN a few months ago from Anis Abdul and was blown away. I was like 'Umm, I don't remember seeing anything dust-like from the 2.5 hours I collected last year'. His image is a great one and inspired me to give this a try.

The filter centering masks for my unmounted filters were creating reflections on some of the data which I did not realize until after I collected 18 hours of RGB data (6h per channel). I ended up taking apart my imaging train, flocking the adapters, retesting with new data only to find it appear again.

Finally when I compared flats with mounted filters from last year vs unmounted, I suspected the centering masks and decided it must go. Got an assortment of metric sized plastic washers to secure the filters and tested with a new set of 18 hours of data and all looked good and moved on with piling as much data I could.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
