Description

This is an interesting dark nebula mixed with emission and reflection nebula in Lacerta. Seeing was so-so the evening I capture the data for this image, so I imaged at bin 2x2, which was adequate for a large scale deep sky object such as this one.

Its such a mix of structures that it has been assigned many identifiers. GN 22.32.5 is one of the names of the white reflection nebula near the center. The dusty brown dark nebula has the IDs DOBASHI 3153, or maybe BDN 096-16. The background red emission nebula extends far beyond the edges of this image and seems to go by LBN 437 or DG 187.

I had ideas of doing a mosaic to capture more of the portion of the nebula beyond the top of this image, but wildfire smoke in Oregon ruined my plans to return to a dark sky site to capture more data before the observing season ended in the Pacific Northwest in early October. We were smoked out for most of September.

Each of the 6 images stacked for this image were themselves live-stacked in SharpCap from 160 three second images.
