Description

I downloaded and purchased Astrophotography Tool (APT) after hearing such great things about it. I have been using the ASIAIR for a number of months now for my past images, so I thought I would try the "Astrobackyard" (Trevor Jones) way of doing things. I used my lightweight SmartEQ Pro + mount, AT72EDII and dug out my Canon SL1 DSLR. I hooked up everything to my laptop and ran APT. It worked great. I was even able to remote the laptop in to my desktop indoors so I didn't have to sit out in the cold. (OK, it was only 40 deg F, but I live in Georgia and that's cold!) My only issue during the night was the battery in my SL1 died before I finished, but I still got an hour's worth of data. Have ordered an AC adapter for it to preclude that issue again. I now am considering if I should give APT a try on my larger setup.
