Description

Messier 17, or Omega Nebula, or Horseshoe Nebula, or Lobster Nebula, or Swan Nebula (can almost see everything apart from the omega ) is major astro-target through the summer period. A large interstellar cloud of gas and dust, being the nursery of young and bright hot stars in the constellation of Sagittarius. It is located 5,500 light-years away and it has a span of 15 light years in diameter. 

The image was processed in HOO using:
OIII 43 x 300s
Ha 49 x 300s

In order to bring out the nebulosity the image was processed first in a starless format.
