Description

Abell 347 is a cluster of galaxies in the constellation Andromeda, which lies close to NGC 891, a larger and somewhat famous galaxy. Some of the cluster members include NGC numbers 906, 909, 910, 911, 912, 913, 914, and 923. This image was taken with a small refractor, which is not the best possible equipment for this target, but all of the subs were acquired at a good dark site under excellent conditions.

The galaxy NGC 923 at the bottom of the frame is an interesting one that seems to have long tidal tails emanating from its arms. It may be worth a closer look with larger aperture.
