Description

A quiet, clear night allowed me to try a dimmer object with my new gear. The Jellyfish Nebula is indeed quite dim and the nearby influence of the bright star Propus (η Geminorum) made exposure levels a bit tricky. Still, with all my imaging, I care more about accurate star color than anything else, so I made sure Propus and the other stars got the proper treatment. Propus is actually a triple star system and the most luminous star is a cool M2IIIa red giant star which overshadows the other two stars.

The Jellyfish Nebula itself is a supernova remnant and I had to do much more stretching than I like in order to pull it out from the darkness. Longer exposures, I'm told, would be a better option for any future attempt.

This is only my third imaging session with all new gear, so I am still taking baby steps, but with this effort I feel myself getting stronger.

Clear Skies to all and thanks for stopping by to read, look and comment!
