Description

NGC 4725, the largest galaxy in this image, is an intermediate barred spiral galaxy in the constellation of Coma Berenices located about 40 million light years from Earth. It is interacting with neighboring spiral galaxy NGC 4747, upper right. You can see the deformation resulting from this interaction as NGC 4747 is stretched in the direction of NGC 4725. NGC 4712, lower left, is a more distant spiral galaxy located about 200 million light years from Earth.
