Description

I picked up planetary imaging again in 2020, after 2 years of slumber and moving to a new place right outside the city center. This time I had access to a 200 mm (8") Newtonian telescope instead of the 80 mm Apo. I practiced a couple nights on Jupiter and Saturn to dial in the setup, in anticipation of Mars opposition on 13 October 2020.

September 12th was one of the better nights, and Mars was now much higher in the sky compared to my last attempt.

I used WinJUPOS to derotate multiple recordings for a better overall result. The animation below shows rotation over 37 minutes (Red filter).
