Description

A couple of weeks ago I did a little 4-subject Carbon Star project. TW Oph was one of the four.

This one is located in the line of site towards the central part of the galaxy and thus, there is a lot going on there. In the work I did for the Carbon Star project, I noticed some dark nebulae and thought this might be a good one to add a bunch of integration time and see what comes of it. I decided to do some luminance only to add to the OSC stuff I had already done. So I hooked up the 183mm and went to work. I carefully set things up so that the camera was oriented the same way as the 183mc. I did this by noting the location of a physical feature on the body of the camera. But alas, it seems the sensors in the two cameras are not aligned the same way and when tried to register the luminance with the color, it was nowhere close. This resulted in the necessity to crop the image considerably.

Then of course, comes the reality of trying to do this during the monsoon and coupled with the smoke from the tragic California wildfires, I was only able to get a little more done on this one.

We still have a lot of smoke and this subject is really starting to set early so I guess this is what I can do practically speaking.

Nevertheless, I think it has some nice elements to it and was worthy of publishing... I hope you agree!
