Description

I finally got out to sit under the stars and do some photography.

The image consists of 16 lights, 11 darks and about 5 separate images with various parts light painted. The lights and darks were processed in Starry Landscape Stacker and the resulting image combined with one base image which was taken in the blue hour to provide overall detail in the foreground. It was then augmented with a few light painted frames.

The night was very still and clear and the Milky Way core revealed itself over the big rock at around midnight. By then the night had gotten quite cold and the stars were like jewels in the sky. I know it's kind of a cliche but that's what it felt like.

There is only a small window of opportunity to get the MW over the big rock without the moon interfering and that is in June.
