Description

This region is one of the most interesting places of observation, with in particular a trio of craters, Archimedes (the most imposing, which evokes for me, as a crown of laurels), then Aristillus and Autolycus the smallest.

To the left of the image, stretches over 600 km the most spectacular mountain range of the moon, Montes Apenninus with peaks of nearly 5000 m.

Starting from the center and at the top of the image descends a sinuous groove, Rima Bradley (130 km long).

Above Archimedes, a set of mountains, Montes Archimedes covering an area of about 140 km in diameter, and another below, Montes Spitzbergen.

I materialized by a red dot Apollo 15 landing site located at the foot of Mons Hadley.

This mission allowed astronauts in particular, to use a vehicle, the lunar rover, for the first time.

Finally, between Archimedes and this red dot a dark and smooth area draws like a rectangle, Palus Putredinis, or the Marsh of Putrefaction, an amazing name..
