Description

Hi all,

Here is an image of Mars taken yesterday here at the observatory with variable seeing and average transparency. There are many fires here in the northern region of the state of São Paulo and the sky is full of smoke and soot, which affects a good color acquisition. In the image we have the albedo area (dark area) Terra Sirenum, Daedalia Planum in the center, orographic clouds over Mount Arsia, revealing the beginning of the sequence of volcanoes in the Tharsis area, the height of Mount Olympus in the upper part (north) and large expanse of Amazonis Planitia on the left.

The south polar cap is quite small while the north polar cap stands out with its classic blue-white color, due to the spread of blue by the tiny particles of frozen CO2 in suspension.
