Description

The Tarantula Nebula is a very luminous emission nebula located in the Large Magellanic Cloud. It is located in a rich field of dust and Ha emitting gas within galactic starfields. I think this accounts for the background colours that were difficult to remove without loss of detail in the vicinity of the main target. This is a narrowband image with total integration time of around 16 hours, taken from an apartment balcony in a small town in New Zealand with clear dark skies. (Even darker as tourists had left the town in the coronavirus lockdown for two of the three nights of imaging)
