Aldebaran is a star in the constellation Taurus. The name comes from Arabic and means the following, because the star seems to follow the Pleiades in the sky.

Apparent magnitude of 0.87 mag

Aldebaran is the brightest star in the constellation Taurus (center).

Aldebaran is a binary star system about 67 light years (20 parsecs) away.

The apparent magnitude is 0.87 mag, the absolute magnitude −0.71 mag. Its red color is also noticeable to the free-eyed observer (see also color index).

The companion (α Tauri B) is a red dwarf of the spectral class M2.
