Description

M13 Hercules Star Cluster

The Great Hercules cluster is the finest globular cluster in the northern hemisphere. Located about 25,000 light years from Earth in the constellation Hercules, M13 contains about 400,000 stars. Two distant galaxies are also visible in this photograph. NGC6207 is located in the far upper right of the frame. IC4617 is the smaller faint galaxy located about halfway between M13 and NCG6207.
