Description

Here we have a try at NGC4535, a beautiful nearly face-on barred spiral galaxy located about 54 million light years away in Virgo. This is a member of the Virgo Cluster. It is about 117,000 light years in diameter.

I shot this over several nights in April while battling uncharacteristically cloudy conditions here in Arizona.

When I was processing this, my focus was on trying to do a better job with the background. In this image, there are a lot of small galaxies that I wanted to show. I did not want to do too much with the background so that these might shine a little bit. The use of an OAG has really helped with guiding and I think has allowed me to pull more details without forcing things. I followed a similar strategy with the incorporation of the Ha integration. It seems to me, and in sync with a fellow imager who is a superb practitioner of our craft, that it is tough to pull those regions out of a smaller galaxy and again, I didn't want to force that at all.

In any case, I see this one as another small step forward and I hope you like it!

CS and good health!
