Description

There was a break in the clouds last night, so it was a perfect opportunity to shoot in Orion again. The break lasted for nearly 3 hours, before wet ground conditions gave rise to fog. Unfortunately, there was a breeze for much of the time before that and I had to accept a number of shaky subs in order to get enough exposure on the nebula. As a result, my stars suffered quite a bit.

Featured in this image, of course, is a small slice of the Orion Molecular Cloud Complex, including the famous IC 434 and the Horsehead Nebula. Prominent stars include Alnitak (ζ Ori, which is a binary that I failed to resolve), Alnilam (ε Ori), and 48 σ Ori, a nice spectroscopic binary which--if I can resolve it--so can you!
