Description

This is my interpretation of the data captured as part of a collaboration project done with members of the NOVAC (Northern Virginia Astronomy Club) imagers group. Our goal was to reach 200+ hours on this faint and elusive object. These types of projects are fun and challenging at the same time, the data is quite different from different rigs and the conditions are also varying. I unfortunately contributed data from a very light polluted sky, but in the end we found a good balance when mixing it all up.

Before reading any further please make sure you visit the other images rendering of this object, each is unique in its own way.

Some stats on the image

205 total hours
88 hours H-alpha
68 hours OIII
48 hours SII

We also had some RGB data but I ended up not using it.

Imaging Rigs:
Tak  FSQ106 / ASI2600 (Randy)
SVX140T / ASI6200 (Juan)
SW Esprit100ED / ASI2600 (Juan)
AT80EDT / ASI1600 (Chris)

And then.......surprise!!! The little object circled in the image below turned out to be something that wasn't catalogued, which Randy notice in the early stages of processing some of the preliminary data. So at this point it's a new candidate Planetary Nebula, and we are awaiting further study (spectral response) to learn more about its real nature. This new object has been catalogued as LiKaMa 1 (PNG 167.0+03.4)

Randy has published a detailed rendering of this object here, I highly recommend taking a look as this one also incorporates all our time spent gathering data to confirm what we were seeing, adding up to a whopping 317 hours. It's small and faint!!
