Description

A well-known pair of superb galaxies M81 and M82 in the constellation Ursa Major.M81 is the beautiful spiral galaxy almost comparable in size to ours and located 12 million light-years away. M82 is apparently an irregular galaxy, but it hides within it two spiral arms. In the center of M82, there are lot of bursts of activity with a fairly high star formation rate. The photo was imaged from the remotely piloted observatory in Portugal by the AstroDarkTeam composed of Stéphane Rolland and Pascal Gouraud. This image is the result of the assembly of exposures on the 5 LHaRGB layers, which represents a total of 32 hours 30 minutes over approximately 14 nights, including 13 hours and 15 minutes in Luminance, 11 hours 16 minutes in Halpha and 8 hours in RGB.Thanks again to the French Astro ARO team for the efficient and effective management of this superb site that hosts us.
