Description

This object is a low surface brightness galaxy located 30 million light years away in the constellation of Lynx at a declination of +51 degrees.  It is a magnitude 11.6 face-on galaxy which spans 3 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a diameter of 25,000 light years.

The galaxy has a tiny bright core and a slight bar.  Blue star clusters are visible throughout the disk and it looks like an arm structure is trying to take shape.  The clusters are all concentrated in the top half of the disk.

This galaxy has the color, size and structure of galaxies which I describe as Irregular Spirals.  These are galaxies which look like they are in transition from an irregular disk structure to a spiral arm structure.
