Description

The Eastern Veil is an interesting object that requires narrow band imaging or in my case using a duo narrowband STC filter. The object itself conjures an image of some animal ready to pounce. Interestingly with this filter and my OSC 168C the image had a strong green flavor rather than the beautiful blue one gets when assigning mono OIII data to the blue channel.

When I studied the spectroscopic graph that came with the filter, it showed the OIII peak to be 2/3 green and 1/3 blue. The Bayer layer of the 168C faithfully picked up this ratio giving an image with a strong green presence.

I would note that in Photoshop if you crank up the blue and dial back the green, you approach the beautiful blue of traditional narrow band imaging. I decide to let the filter and camera be the primary determinate of the color balance.
