Description

NGC 3372, a very large diffuse nebula in the constellation of Carina usually referred to as the Carina Nebula or Eta Carina Nebula due to its colocation with the star Eta Carinae. A wonderful area to image rich in Ha, OIII and SII. This image has taken the data captured using the Ha filter and processed it separately to highlight the magnitude and extent of the Ha present in the nebula. The image has been presented here in its starless form to show off the detail in the endless swirls and forms that we can find embedded in the image. Click on Revision B to see the version with stars included.

Being a very southerly object at a declination of -59 degrees, it is very well positioned for southern observers such as myself to grab lots of data when the skies are clear. This is also the first image published with my Tak FSQ106/ASI6200 combination and whilst there is some fine tuning to complete with the image train it looks like we have a good workable combination of imaging hardware.
