Description

The Surfboard galaxy (M108, also identified as NGC 3556) is a barred spiral galaxy in the northern constellation Ursa Major, approximately 46 million light years distant. From earth this galaxy is seen almost edge on. Plenty of dark, thick dust lanes can be seen throughout as well as numerous blue star clusters along the outer edges.

There are some color artifacts in the stars as it appears that the blue subs had higher elongation and FWHM values, but I didn't want to redo them. I tried to tone them down a bit by reducing the blue contribution in the final image during processing.
