Description

The California Nebula - NGC 1499 (Imaged in November 2019)

This nebula lies in the Perseus constellation about 10 degrees from the Pleiades star cluster, it has an apparent size of 6 full moons but in reality it's just about 100 light-years of span.

The high-energetic Menkib (blue star in the middle) is responsible for the nebula to glow in red, after having stripped away Hydrogen elections, they reunite back by emitting light in deep red of the spectrum.

Under the hood:

1.5 hours of H, 2.5 hours of S. 30 minutes each of R,G and B.
