Description

This extremely dim planetary nebula is located 1250 light years away in the constellation of Ursa Major at a declination of +58 degrees.  It is a magnitude 13.5 PN which spans 8 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a diameter of 3 light years.

Most PN show up faintly in the RGB subs.  This PN is so dim that it barely shows up in the HII subs, and doesn’t show up at all in the OIII subs.  Its 13.5 magnitude is misleading because its surface area is large, which spreads out the brightness.

Even though the PN is dim, the brilliant blue progenitor star is clearly visible.  There is a bit of structure present in the nebula, particularly at lower right in terms of a concentric set of arcs.
