Description

This is another 2 season shooting.

It began in the 2018-2019 season with shooting 2 panels with the 200p dobson ota put on the EQ6-R. I shot 8-9h of luminance on each panel from home, but the gradients due to light pollution killed any attempt of revealing the IFN. Nevertheless, I continued a few months later shooting some RGB and Ha data with the smaller 150PDS newton to have a coloured image.

Then, this season I had one night the AstroProfessional 102mm FPL51 equipped refractor with me and I put it to work. This time I was at a dark location and the IFN revealed easily. I was encouraged seeing the dust decently in less than 3h of exposure so 2 and 3 days (nights) ago I took out the scope again to a less dark location, but still decent skies at zenith and I shot about 5 more hours.

I combined all the refractor data which was intended to be used for the background and all the newtonian luminance for high resolution highlights.

I then combined these trying to mask and hide the big bloated stars from the less than perfect refractor. To these I added colour data from shot with the other newton.

The process was tedious so some artifacts are still visible. 8h of luminance with a 4" refractor is also not too much so the IFN is quite noisy.

Perhaps I won't be visiting these galaxies again until I switch to a larger photon hoover.
