Description

NGC4449 is similar to the LMC in size and composition.  Supposedly there is a large envelope around this galaxy that extends more than twice its diameter away from the part we see.  I caught hints of it, but I think a dark site is needed to pick it up decently.  I was amazed at the level of structural detail in such a fairly small target. As is typical variable conditions dominated this shoot--wind being the primary issue.  Due to seeing, wind and high cloud, which effected guiding, I could not do better than an average of a FWHM of about 2.5 for L, G, and B.  The red channel was a whopping 2.85--by far the worst channel.  This is a target that really benefits from good seeing, as there are many structures in the galaxy that when portrayed under poor conditions, look muddy    I really wanted to add Ha, but I ran out of clear sky.  I will add Ha to finish the image.  I know there is a lot of Ha and am looking forward to collecting it.

I added 3.5 hours of Ha.  Would have ha 5.5 hours but the wind blew the scope off the guide star
