Description

Beautiful Rosette Nebula (NGC 2237) is a cosmic cloud of gas and dust, evoking the imagery of a flower. Located in the constellation Monoceros 5000 light years away, the petals of this cosmic rose are actually a stellar nursery. The lovely shape is sculpted by the winds and radiation from its central cluster of hot young stars, NGC 2244.

Imaged over four nights in March 2021, I used the Optolong L-Extreme Dual Narrow Band filter passing Hydrogen Alpha (Ha) and Oxygen III (OIII), blocking heavy light pollution and full moon glare. For a comparison, I processed this image with an Ha (red) dominance color balance in HOO.
