Orion over Franconia - Nightscape Mosaic

Description

Due to current curfew I couldn't take advantage of the clear skies during weekend for deep sky imaging since everybody had to be back at 9 pm. But in order to not waste the rare clear skies I had a try at my first nightscape for which I would not need hours of exposure time.

Being at the spot I noticed that my "wide field" 24 mm lens in combination with the APS-C sensor of the 1100Da had a quite narrow field of view. I could either get the tree or the sky but not both. So I decided that this will also be my first mosaic. Can't be that difficult, right?

So I went for three rows and two columns. For every panel 10 frames with 13 sec at ISO1600 at f3.2 were shot (in total 60x13" at ISO1600). Those were stacked in Sequator and stitched in ICE.

The light pollution reduction in Sequator resulted in the glow of the foreground. It gives the image a rather artificial (or processed) look but it's better than without the light pollution removal. Despite the low integrated exposure time, one can see a pink blob in the center of the image also known as the Orion nebula. There is even a hint of the Rosette nebula in the left part of the image.

Overall, I am pretty happy with my first nightscape which also is my first mosaic.
