Description

Finally getting some use out of PixInsight.

I took a single 15 second image of M5 with the Atik Infinity CCD on the C14/HyperStar. The Infinity is a very sensitive camera.

I used the SharpCap Pro 3.2 app to capture the image.

A Flat and Dark was applied during the capture.

Then I used PixInsight to do the post-processing and a tiny bit of contrast with Affinity Photos.

The Moon hadn’t come up yet, so it was quite dark.

Don’t zoom in - you’ll see the pixelated stars .

I'm only posting this to show the capabilities of the Atik Infinity camera. The detail isn't all that great because the camera resolution is quite low.

M5 is the brightest globular cluster in the northern hemisphere.

Description: 20 subs at 15s each. Not fully processed. Left as is because it shows the core much better.
