Description

Disappointing having to eat spaghetti without enough sauce... With over 20 hours of integration time (10min subs) I had expected a better feast. So, I am not sure if I should have taken only 5min subs and doubled the total of subs or what? There was not much information in the individual 10 min subs in first place and zero visible in 5 min subs. Two more option that could have affected outcome. More humidity in the air this fall as seeing was just not the same as in the summer or too much of the light pollution creeping in in my 10 min subs.... Will have to revisit this target next year again. This object also closed off my imaging season 2022 in SoCal.

The Spaghetti Nebula, Simeis 147 or Sharpless 2-240 is a faint supernova remnant boarding the constellations Auriga and Taurus. It was discovered at the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory in 1952 by Grigory Shajn and his team using a Schmidt camera and a narrowband filter that was close to the Hydrogen Alpha transmission line. It is estimated to be some 3000 LY from Earth with a diameter of 3°. It's peak apparent magnitude is 6.5.
