Description

NGC4945, the cigar galaxy or also known as The Tweezers Galaxy and NGC4976 to its left. A nice starry field in Centaurus. A small fainter companion is also visible in a star rounded shape to the bottom center of the field (I have no clue on any catalog designation for this particular galaxy). There is also a faint tint of PGC45001 on the center right of the image.

L/Ha/CLS/OIII at 26/25/26/25 300 sec exposure individual subs.

A two evening runs under bright full moon and Bortle 7 skies. Some galaxies are still possible to obtain with small refractors.

NGC4945 was discovered by James Dunlop in 1826. It belongs to the Centaurus cluster of galaxies at roughly 14 millon ly away from earth and shaded by the milky way star fields lying between us and the galaxy. It is similar in shape and conditions to our own galaxy but is suspected to have a gigantic black hole at its core.
