Description

North is up in this image. The large red emission nebula is obscuring the Super Nova Remnant SNR G082.2+5.3 (the SNR structure would be better observed in OIII). This SNR structure is difficult to see in this image due to several other objects from the LBN and DWB catalogs that dominate - (LBN 313, 325, 326 and DWB 142, 145, 147, 148, 156, 165, 167, 168, 170). Some of these Ha emissions may be related to but behind the SNR shock wave. Perhaps only 1/6th of the SNR arc is encompassed by this field. There is also a faint Barnard Dark Nebula 345. The SNR structure is estimated to be about 5,000 light years distant. The bright blue star in the upper right is 30 Cygni; the red star is 31 Cygni which has a component star 31 Cygni B. This field is part of the Cygnus-X region in the constellation of Cygnus. These objects are identified in the annotated image. Horizontal FOV is approximately 120 arc minutes.
