Description

Ain’t that a cute little fellow? Looks like he was just walking about in the skies, doesn‘t he?

The gorgeous Pelican Nebula was first light for my new ASI071 camera and I must say I couldn't be happier with it. A great upgrade for someone used to shooting with a DSLR. Although the ASI071 pixels are actually a little bit bigger, the cooled sensor delivers more detail and is just so much faster.

Also worth mentioning: this was shot through my RC6 - such a great little telescope. I used this project to optimize the spacing of the CCD47 reducer --- 75mm in the final session were just right for getting nice round stars even in the corners of this slightly cropped image.

And also: thanks to Karl Kloss from Teleskop-Spezialisten, Munich, who sold me the new camera and convinced me to keep my EQ5 mount because it CAN carry the load.

Clear Skies!
