Description

The weather forecast was bad, a gap in the cloud cover was predicted only about 100 km south of Vienna. When I drove off it was drizzling.

After a trip of about 80 km, the time had come: A thin cloud veil was still there, but time was short: I set up my rig. But to my dismay I couldn't find the moon. Not with naked eyes, not with binoculars, not with the finder scope: I could not find the moon. How embarassing!

When I almost gave up, I saw a blink in the finder scope: Venus! Just in time! The occultaion had just started, so I had no time for a fine adjustment.

Minutes later, the cloud gap closed again, but I had a picture.
