Description

This is one of a few test images with my new to me Orion MN190. Fixing the scope up with cooling, a better focuser and sturdier rings it is now ready to spen more precious time under the stars.

I found however that the stars with this scope are more bloated than I would like, and significantly worse than an APO with a similar FOV. Thus it was an opportunity to try some new star reduction techniques. I am not entirely satisfied with the result but a combination of Adam Block's star de-emphasis process, and a starnet mask with histogram adjustment, I managed to reduce the stars without using any erosion and I think that keeps them looking somewhat natural, if not a bit too dim.

This seems like an ideal opportunity for a mosaic, however I will likely wait for this part of the sky to come back around again next year to begin.

This is a true HOO process of this particular area of the Veil Nebula / Cygnus Loop.

Note: This image is unguided, unintentionally. I recently upgraded my imaging train with a dovetail delete for the QHY 294, which drastically reduces backfocus. Couldn't quite reach focus on the OAG. Now solved with more spacers and longer through bolts.
