Small lighthouse of Borkum and the star Capella

One week of air changes in the North Sea. The weather was very mixed. During the day sun and clouds, my wife liked it very much. In the evening and at night mostly drawn in and rain. On the last evening a beautiful sunset and a little clear sky even at the blue hour. A star could be seen, I think it was Capella in Auriga. A stroke of luck!

The small lighthouse was always illuminated in the evening, but it no longer emits any light itself, only a radar signal. Due to the long exposure time, the radar antenna looks like a rotor :-)

The small lighthouse Borkum (also: electric lighthouse) is located on a ten meter high dune on the southwest side of Borkum and is one of three lighthouses on Borkum. It was erected in 1888/1889 as a beacon for the two approach waters of the Ems, Hubertgat and Westerems (Westgat). It officially went into operation on October 1, 1891 and was decommissioned in the summer of 2003.

Kleiner Leuchtturm auf Borkum und der Stern Kapella

Eine Woche Luftveränderung an der Nordsee. Das Wetter war sehr durchwachsen. Tagsüber Sonne und Wolken, hat meiner Frau sehr gut gefallen. Abends und Nachts meist zugezogen und Regen. Am letzten Abend war ein schöner Sonnenuntergang und auch zur blauen Stunde etwas klarer Himmel. Ein Stern war zu sehen, ich glaube es war Capella in Auriga. Ein kleiner Glücksfall!

Der kleine Leuchtturm wurde abends immer angestrahlt, sendet aber selbst kein Licht mehr aus, nur ein Radarsignal. Durch die lange Belichtungszeit, sieht die Radarantenne wie ein Rotor aus :-)

Der Kleine Leuchtturm Borkum (auch: Elektrischer Leuchtturm) befindet sich auf einer zehn Meter hohen Düne an der Südwestseite Borkums und ist einer von drei Leuchttürmen auf Borkum. Er wurde 1888/1889 als Leitfeuer für die beiden Ansteuerungsfahrwasser der Ems, das Hubertgat und die Westerems (Westgat) errichtet. Offiziell ging er am 1. Oktober 1891 in Betrieb und wurde im Sommer 2003 außer Dienst gestellt.
