Description

LRGB image of the integrated flux nebula in Ursa Major including M81 and M82. The IFN exists outside the plane of the Milky Way and is illuminated by the integrated flux of the light from the galaxy as a whole rather than a single star or group of stars. Dark skies and long integration time is the key! This was shot over several nights in Sequoia National Park in February and the Eastern Shore of Maryland in April. The wide field and sharp optics of the WO Spacecat performed really nicely for this one.
