Description

The Helix Nebula is a planetary nebula (PN) located in the constellation Aquarius. It is not only one of the brightest near-Earth planetary nebula in the night sky, but it is also one of the most famous. The Helix nebula's unique appearance has earned it the pop culture nickname of "The Eye of God."

I noticed that it was visible for about 2 hours from my mount's position and decided to go for it while I waited for Orion to come up on the other side. Unfortunately, I had already put my SCT away so I shot this with a smaller refractor. I had to drizzle and crop the image aggressively for this close up. I'll have to reshoot it at a proper focal length once it comes back around to pull out more detail.
