Description

I just ordered a new mount which is supposed to get delivered next week. So there is a guarantee of at least another two weeks of cloudy skies ... In the meantime, I continue processing nice objects from the southern skies provided by Telescope Live service. The image shows a whole bunch of nebulae and star clusters in southern constellation Dorado: NGC 2030, NGC 2032, NGC 2035 and NGC 2040 in the center of the image. I learned that the combination of these four nebulae is called the Seagull Nebula, a name which is attributed to IC 2177 too. So it seems we have a northern and a southern seagull in the sky.

In the surroundings we find NGC 2020 in the lower right corner, the open star cluster NGC 2021 and part of NGC 2014. On the upper left the open star cluster NGC 2053 completes the image.

The SHO palette was used for the image. As for all of my images I used the nice PixInsight GHS script of https://ghsastro.co.uk for stretching.

Clear skies
Wolfgang
