Description

Work commitments have kept me away from this wonderful hobby over the past month ... which has prevented my testing out some Chroma filters kindly advanced to me by Santa.

In the meantime, I have processed some more nightscape data acquired in March during a farm stay at Murphy's Creek in central Victoria, Australia. The owners have been farming the property since the gold rush era in the 1800's, and there's now an assortment of animal bones derelict farm equipment lying around the place.

This is stack of tripod mounted DLSR exposures sith a wide-open 14mm lens, with one exposure side-lit with a dim torch for a few seconds. Focussing on the foreground has allowed the stars to blur a little, as they hover above the receding clouds. Not wonderful sky quality, but my artist daughter has provided some welcome encouragement and told me to keep persevering!

I had no idea what this object was at the time ... it looked like a cross between a centipede and something from the Tour de France. I have since been enlightened that it is a "hay rake", towed behind a tractor or energetic horse to rake hay into rows for drying and later collection.

Thanks for looking!
