28 million light-years from Earth the striking edge-on profile of the spiral Sombrero Galaxy (M104) features a bright core and a broad ring of obscuring dust lanes. Discovered in 1781 by the French astronomer Pierre Mechain, the galaxy spans 50,000 light-years.

Equipment and capture details are a little rough at this point since it's a combination of data over the years, but I'll give it a shot.
